Ruby Shemaria – Web Designer

Hi, my name is Ruby. Graduated from Terra Linda High in 2020. I am in my last year of college at the College of Marin. I am studying to become a Web Designer and Developer.  I am also a national Power Soccer player. I love to read and look at my computer in my spare time. I’m thrilled to be in this class. I plan to get my Web Design certificate at the end of May. I have used assistive technology all my life so working for The Marin Technology Resource Center is really important for me to give back.

Hanna Eide  – Graphics

I’m Hanna, and I’m the graphic artist who does the images for this website.

I’ve been going to the technology resource center since I was school-age, but I’ve been working with Dan since I was three. I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy type 1, which makes my muscles weak so that I can’t move or speak like a non-disabled person, so I use a tobii device to talk with a switch. I also access my iPhone and iPad via a switch. Without Dan and the technology resource center, I wouldn’t have had access to assistive technology at an early age, and because of that, I could finish school. I graduated from Santa Rosa Junior College with my web fundamentals certificate, I have a digital art business, and I’m working at a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, Marin Ventures. I set up communication boards for the clients, where I teach them how to use them. Now, helping with projects at the tech center is a full-circle moment. I can’t emphasize enough how much technology has impacted my life.

Nicole Harris  – AAC Tech Specialist and Consultant

Hi, I am Nicole and I just graduated from the Grant Grover Program at the College of Marin. I have been using Assistive Technology, both high-tech and low-tech, for communication since I was in preschool. I have seen the technology develop and improve over the years and I am so happy to be able to help students be able to learn and communicate with the latest technology available. I am currently helping to create communication boards for AAC users.
